  • Mallesons Careers Event!

  • Mallesons has approached CLSS regarding an information evening they are holding on Tuesday the 24th October. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn more about their firm and the possibility of a vacation clerkship placement or a graduate/trainee position there.

Mallesons is one of the top 2 law firms in the world to have offices in Australia and it has offices in all the commercial hubs of the Asia-Pacific. Furthermore it is one of the few firms that offers clerkships to second and third year students! This means that you have the opportunity to have prior experience before applying for other law firms' clerkships and it allows you to compare the Mallesons experience with other firms. CLSS encourages all members to attend. Please RSVP to Sara Eddy at 9296 3254 or sara.eddy@mallesons.com by the 18th October.

Please see this poster for additional information.

Update: Our career's director, Andrea has written a review of the event for your information.

  • CLSS Annual General Meeting

  • CLSS's Annual General Meeting The AGM is from 5-6pm on Thursday, 26 October 2006 (Week
    13) in Carslaw Lecture Room 251. At this meeting, we will discuss the activities of the society, past and present, and participate in elections for the committee for 2007. Although there was an AGM earlier this year, it was resolved that the AGM should be in October, rather than earlier in the year which was an inconvenient time and from now on AGMs shall be held in October, as per the amended Constitution.

Only ordinary members, and honorary members who otherwise qualify for ordinary membership, are elligible to stand for election and/or vote. Nominations are open as of now, and you should register your interest by
emailing usydclss@gmail.com with your name, telephone number and course of study at university; nominations close at the election itself.

    The following positions are available:

       - President
       - Vice-President
       - Secretary
       - Treasurer
       - Careers Director
       - Education Director
       - Publications Director
       - Social Director
       - 4 Executive Members

Please refer to our Constitution for further details of the role of the executive.

  • 'Careers A La Carte'

  • SELECT Marketing Society is holding an event called Career A La Carte and CLSS encourages all its members to attend. After all, its free! And it helps your future career. As the name suggests, it is a fine mixture of yummy food and career goodness. The evening begins with chilled hors'douvres and antipasto, as well as a few beverages to wash it down. We then head inside to listen to speakers from Unilever Australasia, Loreal, Microsoft and Media Sales Cadetships. The evening concludes with a buffet of gourmet finger food, and your chance to mingle and network with executives from the above companies. See the flyer for more details.

  • Sushi and Balls'

  • We hope your holidays are going well as they draw to a close. In this final
week of holidays CLSS is bringing to you a social event to kick start the
semester. "Sushi and Balls" will be held on Sunday the 23rd of July. Come
along and bring your friends for some social mingling, good food and
bowling. Meet other members of CLSS and widen your social network for
semester 2! Please RSVP before the 20th of July to ensure a spot in the
    bookings.

  • 2006 Annual General Meeting: Wednesday 26 April 2006, 5pm, Carslaw Room 250

The AGM was a great success with a strong turnout. The outgoing President delivered his Annual Report and sadly declined reelection. Two major changes were made to the Constitution, passed nearly unanimously by those present. The first was to change the Executive from two Vice-Presidents, each with their own portfolio (Publications and Careers) to a singular Vice-President and two new directors. Additionally, the AGM will now be held in October rather than the much busier April period. The Executive was also elected and can be viewed here. Congratulations to the new Executive for 2006.
